3-Chloropyridine-2-carboxaldehyde (3CP) is a chiral molecule that can be used as a sensing probe for the detection of amino acids. It is also used in asymmetric synthesis as a key intermediate to expand the chemical space. 3CP has been shown to act as an efficient catalyst for multicomponent reactions, such as Diels-Alder reactions, and enantioselective transformations.

3CP can be used in racemic synthesis to generate chiral moieties that are difficult to synthesize by other methods. This compound can also be used in screening assays to identify small molecules that modulate protein function.
